Join us to learn about Volunteer Clear, a cost effective and constantly updated Background Check Program.

Background Screening is an important risk management tool for nonprofit organizations offering services to vulnerable individuals, However, creating, managing and updating a Background Checks program can be expensive and time consuming. Now, there is a better solution!

The Center is excited to be teaming up with First Point to offer an all-inclusive background check program. “Volunteer Clear” can be used by any of our nonprofit affiliates. We are pleased to also be able to offer KeepWatch, a Nightly Monitoring Service which screens (every 24 hours) each volunteer in Volunteer Clear. This service tremendously enhances your volunteer background check program. We alert you in real time with any violations. 

Volunteer Clear is an online platform in which the nonprofit organization OR the volunteer can process the background screening check. Each agency will have their own portal/login and can easily access records online

 

Grant Writing Workshop:
Cultivating Relationships, Capacity Building, and Sustainability

Grants are available to nonprofits, educational institutions, and faith-based institutions that know how and who to ask.  Learn about the grant process and how to increase your chance for success—from foundation research and cultivation to the development and writing of a proposal.  This half-day grant writing workshop will feature: 

- Important elements of a grant proposal (cover letter, summary 
  statement, statement of problem or need, objectives, evaluation, the 
  budget and future funding)
 
- Planning and research process, outreach/cultivation of potential 
  foundation and corporate donors
 
- Typical questions funders ask
 
- Steps after proposal submisson (site visits/reporting, etc.)
 
Ruth Peebles, President & Founder of The INS Group, has more than 25 years experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, organizational development and project management. She is an instructor for the Duke Certificate Program in Nonprofit Management and an adjunct instructor for the Master of Public Administration Program at NC State University.

The Key Volunteer of the Year Recognition honors Triangle area volunteers who support our member agencies. Thank you to all the non-profits who nominate volunteers. A panel of judges will decide the winners for each category for the Key Volunteer Awards and the winners of the NC Governor's Award.
