Who We Are
We are a Minor League Charity and a part of Major League RBI reviving baseball in inner cities program for 133 young men between the ages of 13-18. We came to be in 2009 when Durham Parks & Recreation department cancelled their 13-15 free inner city baseball program. Our mission is to prepare these young men to live, play and work in a world with rules and regulations. We partner with parents and community members to help with the education process by utilizing their skills and knowledge to support the development of our players. We believe it takes a village to raise our children and that village starts with us.
What We Do
We push education and give our A/B scholar athletes trophies at our end of the year banquet and new in 2018 we will be able to offer our scholar athletes a scholarship to show our appreciation for their excellence in the classroom. We have college coaches host free conditioning clinics for our players, regular season schedule and tournament play offs along with an end of the year banquet and awards ceremony. We use the draft system to make sure players are on various teams so we don't end up with neighborhoods against one another. We hold them accountable for their actions and work with the parents to ensure they have been on their best behavior or they will be benched a game. We work together to make sure the players understand there is no I in team and that it takes all of them working together to get the desired end they hope to achieve. We express the importance of having a backup plan because life doesn't always go as planned. We are always in need of volunteer coaches, scorekeepers, concessions and support.
