Who We Are

Kramden Institute's mission is to provide technology tools and training to bridge the digital divide. From its inception, Kramden's programs have been designed to support those left on the wrong side of the digital divide: low-income families and individuals of color, many of whom do not own a computer and, in many cases, have never learned how to use one. Kramden has worked with similar population groups across the state in order to address all three facets of the digital divide: access to computers, digital literacy skills, and finding affordable broadband access.

Volunteers are essential to our work as a non-profit computer refurbisher. No, experience is necessary. Come join us!

What We Do

Since 2003, Kramden has awarded more than 58,000 computers to deserving families across North Carolina and beyond.

Kramden expanded its programs in 2014 to include educational programs for members of the community who lack basic computing skills. Since that time, over 8,000 individuals have completed one of our adult computer classes, taken part in our STEM after-school programs, or enrolled in one of our workshops or technology camps.
