Who We Are
"Amedisys Hospice recognizes the unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each person. We strive to extend the highest level of courtesy and service to patients, families, caregivers, visitors and each other."
What We Do
"Amedisys Hospice affirms life and views death as a natural process. Hospice exists to support and care for persons in their last stages of an incurable illness, helping them live as fully and comfortably as possible, and enabling them to have a peaceful death with resolution of loss."
Volunteer opportunities include Direct Patient Care, providing companionship, socialization and caregiver respite to patients and their caregivers; Administrative volunteers help in the office answering the phone, copying, filing and helping with mailings; Indirect Patient Care volunteers do not have direct contact with hospice patients, but can provide handmade quilts, blankets, birthday cakes and cards for patients; Bereavement volunteers work closely with the Bereavement Coordinator to help with patient/caregiver calls and mailings. The Amedisys volunteer program includes a special Vigil Sitting Program where volunteers sit with patients days to hours before death. Amedisys also recognizes our veterans through the We Honor Veterans program thanking each veteran for their service to our country. So lots of opportunities to serve Amedisys! Please consider giving your time today.
