Who We Are
May 18, 2019: The Victory Ride to Cure Cancer presented by Braswell Family Farms is a one-day charity cycling event set in the beautiful rolling hills of the greater Raleigh -Durham - Chapel Hill, N.C., area. The Ride will start and end on NC State University's Centennial Campus, near downtown Raleigh. We are proud to say that 100% of rider-raised funds from the Victory Ride will benefit life-saving cancer research right here in North Carolina and across the United States.
The V Foundation funds breakthrough research at world-class facilities across the U.S. where critical discoveries about cancer are made. We are dedicated to achieving Victory Over Cancer, and like Jim Valvano, we "Don't Ever Give Up!"
What We Do
The V Foundation's Victory Ride to Cure Cancer presented by Braswell Family Farms benefits Duke Cancer Institute, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Wake Forest Baptist Health Comprehensive Cancer Center, as well as breakthrough cancer research nationwide.
The dollars raised by the Victory Ride fund research that saves lives. And when it comes to funding cures for cancer, the V Foundation means business. Here’s how we do it.
V Scholars are early-career scientists doing fundamental or “basic” cancer research to provide the raw materials for tomorrow’s preventions, diagnoses and treatment. All treatments being offered in cancer clinics today have their earliest foundations in basic research done decades ago. V Scholar grants fund the future of cancer research.
Translational Grants bring together multi-disciplinary teams doing basic, patient-oriented and population-based research. These grants help translate findings from the lab to the clinic.
Designated Grants support basic or translational research at research institutions that may reach beyond our usual grant list. The size and duration of these grants vary widely depending on the initiative, but they have ranged from $50,000 to over $1 million.
