Volunteer: Driver's Assistant (Durham)You must sign up HERE for this opportunity. Are you driven to help fight against hunger? If so, volunteer as a Driver’s Assistant, where you will accompany one of our Food Shuttle drivers on a truck, recovering food from our partner agencies in our surrounding service counties, and helping in our warehouse. Please arrive on time at our Durham Warehouse to begin your shift. Our address is 2436 S Miami Blvd, Durham, NC 27703, and the warehouse is in the back right corner of the parking lot. You will be greeted by a staff member in the office and brought to the warehouse when it is time to be paired with a driver. Dress Code You must wear CLOSED-TOE/HEEL SHOES. We recommend bringing gloves, water, and a snack or lunch. Volunteers may take a lunch break from 1 - 1:30 PM. There is NO smoking or vaping in the Food Shuttle vehicles. It is important to be on time for your shift. If you are late, there is a strong chance that you will not be able to volunteer for this opportunity, as our drivers must stay on schedule for their pick-up and drop-off times. Drivers will not return to the Durham Warehouse until they are done with their route and will only return early for emergencies.
