DCRC is seeking thoughtful and empowering volunteers to join our team providing services to victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Human Trafficking who come to the office for legal or crisis services. This volunteer is the "Director of First Impressions" and welcomes survivors in, creating a sense of safety and peace when they come through the door or call the administrative line. Volunteers will also help in the office complete light administrative duties such as: Organizing supplies, creating volunteer notebooks, creating folders, etc.

You will receive 10 hours of training prior to starting independent shifts. No volunteer is put to work until they are confident and comfortable.

For experienced crisis line volunteers, DCRC is also seeking volunteers for hospital accompaniment of survivors of sexual assault. As a crisis line volunteer, you may also volunteer for weekend or night shift(s) to meet survivors at the hospital after an assault. This is a critical compassionate support role, to help survivors navigate the decisions of completing a rape kit, pressing charges, and working with a forensic nurse. Bilingual Spanish speakers are needed also!

·Choose your 6- or 12-hour shift to operate and provide on-call client support at Duke Emergency working with a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner)

As a volunteer Crisis Line Advocate, you will play a pivotal role in assessing needs, offering essential information, formulating safety plans and making referrals to clients and their families. Your support through compassionate listening and identifying and addressing client needs will make a daily impact on survivors of abuse and assault.

You will receive over 20 hours of training and role playing of crisis calls prior to answering a phone. No volunteer is put to work until they are confident and comfortable. Bi-lingual Spanish speakers are needed also!

Do you enjoy thrifting? Working with customers? Painting or refinishing furniture? If so, volunteer at Pennies for Change, DCRC's new Thrift Store! Volunteers sort donations, organize clothes, create store displays, assist customers and help with overall store maintenance. Shifts available daily Tuesday-Saturday. Groups are also welcome to help with large projects.
