WakeEd Partnership is seeking an organized, dependable, and community-minded volunteer to serve as a Tools4Schools Volunteer Operations Lead. Tools4Schools is WakeEd Partnership’s free teacher resource program serving Wake County Public School educators with classroom supplies, basic student needs items, and other essential resources that help teachers and students succeed. Since opening in 2022, Tools4Schools has served thousands of educators and distributed more than $2 million in new school supplies.
Position Overview
This leadership volunteer role is ideal for someone who wants to stay active and engaged in meaningful work while making a direct impact on public education in our community. The Volunteer Operations Lead will serve as a trusted extension of WakeEd staff, helping support day-to-day Tools4Schools operations, guide fellow volunteers, and ensure educators have a welcoming and efficient shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities
Volunteer & Store Operations
- Support Serve as a lead volunteer during assigned Tools4Schools shopping shifts
- Help welcome, orient, and support volunteers serving in various Tools4Schools roles
- Assist with volunteer training and onboarding
- Support daily storefront operations to ensure an organized, positive, and efficient experience for educators
Inventory & Program Support
- Assist with sorting, organizing, stocking, and inventory management of incoming donations
- Help maintain an orderly, well-stocked shopping environment
- Support preparation for shopping days and occasional special supply drives or donation intake efforts
Leadership & Community Engagement
- Serve as a trusted ambassador for WakeEd and Tools4Schools
- Help foster a welcoming, collaborative volunteer culture
- Work alongside WakeEd staff to help expand the program’s capacity and impact

Time Commitment
This leadership volunteer role requires a regular commitment during the Tools4Schools operating season (generally August through April), including:
- Availability for one weekday shopping shift per week (typically 3:00–7:00 p.m.)
- Availability for one Saturday shopping shift per month (typically 12:00–4:00 p.m.)
- Occasional flexibility for volunteer training, donation intake, or special events as needed
