Volunteer: Development Volunteer

1) Grant writer The individual will research and propose possible sources of grant funding for WHUP, monitor application deadlines, facilitate the submission of grant proposals, and follow up with reporting requirements. Experience required. 2) Events Coordinator The volunteer will oversee and monitor the scheduling and production of WHUP events as well as work with individual event producers to ensure that plans are followed according to set timetables and that all other needs are being met in advance of the event. The coordinator will report to the development committee and deliver periodic updates. Experience in event production is required, though the coordinator will not be responsible for producing the events except by agreement. 3) Event Producers Volunteers will design and produce WHUP events as approved by the development committee. Responsibilities include working with the development committee to set a detailed timetable; determine a budget; organize publicity; arrange for advance ticket sales; communicate with the venue, volunteers, and other participants; and whatever other tasks are required. Experience producing events at some level is required. 4) Event Labor Volunteers will participate in WHUP events as needed at the direction of the event producer. Examples include setup, takedown, and other onsite tasks at WHUP-produced events, staffing tables at which WHUP has a presence, postering, etc. No experience is necessary.

1) Music DJs and public affairs show hosts Ideal candidates will have an understanding of the elements that combine to make a good, listenable radio program and will demonstrate both passion and knowledge of whatever thematic or topical focus their proposed shows would have. Experience is helpful but not required; basic computer skills are a must. 2) Audio Production Audio producers should have a basic working knowledge of Audacity or other audio-editing software and must be creative, imaginative, and self-motivated. 3) Website Archive Management Volunteers will edit show archives with live in-studio content for permanent posting on the WHUP website. Basic but a working knowledge of Audacity or other audio-editing software is required. 4) Live Music Production/Engineering Ideal candidates will have at least some sound engineering or radio experience and will be able to set up and produce a live-music session on the air in the broadcast studio. Required qualifications include an aptitude for broadcast and sound technology, a good ear, and interviewing skills. 5) Rivendell Team Member Volunteers will respond to DJ requests for archived shows and load new show files into the automated broadcast system for airplay.
