Needs From: The Triangle Nonprofit & Volunteer Leadership Center

Volunteer: Merrick-Moore Community Development Corporation Seeking Board Treasurer

Board Treasurer (Volunteer)
Merrick-Moore Community Development Corporation

At MMCDC, our work is built on trust, transparency, and deep care for the Merrick-Moore community. The Board Treasurer helps uphold those values by keeping our financial house
steady and clear. This is a hands-on, bookkeeping-focused role for someone who believes in
community power and wants to help ensure our resources are managed with integrity.

What This Role Does
 Keeps our financial records organized, accurate, and up to date
 Tracks monthly income and expenses and categorizes transactions
 Reconciles bank statements and monitors account activity
 Prepares simple, easy-to-understand monthly financial updates for the board
 Supports the creation of our annual budget alongside the Board Chair and Executive
Committee
 Tracks grant-related income and expenses to ensure we stay compliant
 Coordinates with accountants, auditors, or fiscal sponsors when needed
 Helps ensure required filings (like the 990N/990EZ) are submitted on time
What Makes Someone a Good Fit
 Experience with basic bookkeeping or financial recordkeeping
 Comfort using or learning accounting software
 Strong attention to detail and follow-through
 Ability to explain financial information in a clear, accessible way
 A heart for community work and alignment with MMCDC’s mission and values
 Nonprofit experience is helpful but not required — commitment matters most
Time Commitment
 About 4–6 hours per month, including monthly board meetings
 Slightly more time during budget season or annual financial reviews

How This Role Supports the Community
The Treasurer helps ensure that every dollar entrusted to MMCDC is handled with care. By
keeping our finances transparent and organized, this role strengthens our ability to secure grants,
steward land, support residents, and build the future MerrickMoore deserves. It’s quiet work with
a big impact — the kind of behindthescenes leadership that keeps our mission moving.

This is a volunteer position.  Please forward your resume to Bonita Green, info@merrickmoorecdc.org.
