Who We Are

Digital Durham (DD) envisions a Durham where everyone is equitably engaged in the digital world. To achieve this vision, we promote digital inclusion throughout Durham, North Carolina by advocating for reliable, affordable internet access and computing devices, as well as by supporting digital literacy training. Founded in 2016 as a collaborative, Digital Durham was granted 501c3 status in 2022. The nonprofit Board of Directors serves as the backbone organization supporting the work of the collaborative which includes anchor institutions and community based organizations providing digital inclusion services to Durham residents. Membership in the collaborative is open to individuals and organizations that share our mission to ensure everyone in our community has access to a device that meets their needs, affordable high-speed broadband, and the digital literacy skills necessary to utilize these tools to achieve their personal, educational, and professional goals.

What We Do

Digital Durham serves the Durham community through: Creation of program alignments within the community Curation of data regarding the digital divide in Durham Education and advocacy regarding digital inclusion in Durham and North Carolina Professional development for organizations providing digital inclusion services Leadership and collaboration with others on digital equity-focused grants We conduct community listening sessions to understand the unique needs of all covered populations in Durham County and collaborate with community based organizations to address those needs through customized digital literacy training, access to discounted internet, and/or affordable devices .
