Who We Are

The mission of Dress for Success Triangle NC is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Dress for Success Triangle became an affiliate of Dress for Success Worldwide on April 1, 2008. Dress for Success Worldwide is the first and only international employment retention model that moves low-income women towards financial stability by addressing their social and economic needs in relation to work, home, and community.

Dress for Success Triangle supports local women through programs specifically tailored to help them achieve success in their job search and to thrive in their careers and in life. These programs are run by our 350 dedicated corporate partners and volunteers in Raleigh and Durham. The two affiliates have served over 12,500 Triangle women since opening its doors. Sixty-five percent of the women who have used our core services of career and image coaching become employed.

What We Do

Dress for Success Triangle NC promotes self-sufficiency through employment, job retention, and career development programs that help low income women support themselves and their families. We seek support to increase our capacity to respond to Triangle women who will be learn how to find a job, how to keep it, and how to use opportunities to build a career that provides a living wage.

Coaching: At her first appointment, each woman meets with a volunteer career coach to discuss her work history and help with her initial interview skills. They prepare her resume and cover letter and she is given a flash drive containing her information and additional materials about seeking employment.

The woman then meets with an Image Coach who helps select appropriate professional interview attire including shoes, a handbag and accessories. When she obtains a job, she receives up to a week’s worth of business apparel. All outfits are free of charge to clients.

Career Center: Our women receive unlimited career support and access to our Career Center which includes a resource center, applied workplace preparation, and résumé preparation and mock interviewing. The resource center is composed of a lending library of educational and financial literacy materials, job-search books and magazines, clippings of relevant articles, lists of important web sites and computers for internet job searching.

Going Places Network: Our ten-week job acquisition program helps unemployed and under-employed Dress for Success clients gain professional skills, accelerate their job search and build confidence through weekly training sessions, one-on-one career coaching and networking in a supportive environment. In June of 2017 our 1000th participant graduated from the program.

The Professional Women’s Group (PWG) is the job retention component of our services. Each monthly meeting consists of two key elements; an expert speaker leading a discussion and a networking period. Through these educational workshops, women are taught how to maintain job stability and maximize their earning potential through employment stability.

Programming covers four basic subject areas: workplace communication and culture, financial literacy/wealth building, creating a balance between work and family, and the written and unwritten rules of the workplace.

PWG Boot Camp is the monthly networking group for women who have recently been hired and offers support during her first 180 days on the job.
