We want to intercept trash before it reaches Jordan Lake. New Hope Creek drains 300 sq. mi. of watershed stretching up to Hillsborough and including a large section of the City of Durham. The photo shows the fantastic work of our volunteers in our 2016 cleanup of the same area that we will tackle again this year. Clean Jordan Lake is offering this event as part of the City of Durham's Annual Creek Week (http://www.durhamcreekweek.org/), a time to discover and clean up Durham’s waterways. Over 20 organizations are participating. They share a vision for Durham residents to enjoy, feel connected to, and protect local waterways. You can follow Creek Week on Facebook and Twitter.
The cleanup site is the Wildlife Resources Commission's New Hope River Waterfowl Impoundment. Here is link to map showing the location off Rt. 54 and parking area marked by red balloon (best seen in Satellite view): https://goo.gl/maps/F42XgiDzadP2
The street view on top left side of map shows a brown sign with white letters indicates New Hope River Waterfowl Impoundment. Entrance to parking area is just west of Biscayne Rd. intersection with Rt. 54. Turn into the gravel road to parking area a short distance away.
