Serve on our board of directors. Are you passionate about the environment? Looking for a meaningful way to give back? Be a part of We Plant it Forwards board of directors, a minimum of a two-year commitment and quarterly board meetings.
It is an exciting time to join We Plant it Forward (WPiF)as we transition from an all volunteer run organization to one with paid staff. We are looking for people who will work with other board members to oversee the creation of accounting practices for hiring staff, attract young professionals to help advance our mission and oversee and participate in fundraising efforts. We believe people with these skill sets will round out our already magnificent board. We are looking for people who can make a commitment to helping the organization advance its mission, to preserve and restore the natural environment for the benefit of future generations thorough hands-on activities, community engagement and environmental education bringing harmony to all life. Read on to understand what we expect from board candidates.
Board Member Responsibilities:
Board member commitment is for a minimum of two years. Term begins when board votes the new member onto the WPiF board. During this time, you will have fiduciary responsibility to ensure we build a sustainable future for the organization and that our activities advance the WPiF mission. Our mission is to restore and preserve the natural environment for the benefit of future generations through hands-on activities, community engagement and environmental education bringing harmony to all life. Besides having oversight of the finances you will help find board members for the next board term. In addition, your responsibilities will involve fundraising and advocacy work for WPiF. Fundraising means reaching people who will donate to the organization and making a personal donation that is manageable for you. Advocacy means sharing the work We Plant it Forward is doing with your network of colleagues, friends, community and family. We plan to make this work as manageable as possible for you. We ask that you bring the assets you have to help We Plant it Forward to be a thriving and sustainable organization. We will meet every three months for 2 hours at a time on a date that works best for all the board members. There will be work that needs to be done between each meeting, like networking, reviewing documents to prepare for a board meeting, and fundraising.
